The crosses are burning again in outback Queensland.
Bean has just endured her Thea Astley moment and had to resort to the same defense.
Some things never change so I guess I shouldn't be amazed that the telling of a story should generate such venomous personal attacks as endured by Bean from the cockies of outback Queensland. Good on ya fellas - anonymous, parochial, and hypocritical to the last, lining up to smackdown the poor misinformed city girl in your midst. It was just a bloody story, and everybody except you could see it wasn't accusing all cockies of being like the exploitative mongrel character depicted.
That's right fellas - don't even consider reasoned argument, stern chiding or refuting facts - just come out swinging! Brute force solves everything doesn't it? And "Marta Holiday"? You're the best of the bunch! You don't know me, you don't know her, you don't know shit! All you've done is give all Bean's readers the impression that all cockies out there are complete cockheads.
Pfft! It's 1961 in Pomona all over again...

Eeeeeeeeeep. I tune out for a day and miss all the action. A pub fight no less, and I wasn't there to help swing chairs.
A couple of agenda-ridden nutters won't keep our Bean down.

Well - I'm not into censorship and would like to think that we could actually have a discussion here, but it's pretty obvious that when anonymous trolls start spewing invective, vitriol and obscenities that it's time to take a leaf from Telstra's book and pull the plug on the bush.

You showed up reacting to a story as if it was a personal criticism (which it wasn't) and responded with abuse and personal attacks. You attacked her and then you attacked me, which was pretty rich after slagging her for describing characters you said she knew nothing about. You know absolutely nothing about me, mate! When charlie objected to your abuse, you responded with obscenities.
I was writing metaphorically when I mentioned fists - the interaction here is obviously not physical. As in, if you can't get the other person to back down by personally abusing them, resort to obscenities. Raise the threat level. Raise the aggression. Just a metaphor mate - I'm not ignorant enough to assume or suggest people in the bush can literally only solve issues with their fists.
OMFG (pardon my French) that really sucks that Bean felt she had to take down her site!
Some people should just get over themselves instead of taking everything personally and ranting about it on other peoples sites...

In the spirit of a fair go, I'll respond - but it's the last time I'm putting up with this off topic crap.
I haven't left anyone in the dust. The last of our children left home two years ago. The long term issues that exist between my wife and I (which are none of your business) resulted in both of us being unhappy. My commitment to the support of my wife and children will never waver - the family home will not be sold. I left - I leave with nothing.
I hope this satisfies you somewhat and you can find it in your heart to live and let live mate - we're all struggling and we all make mistakes...

It. Was. A. Story.
A story where the protagonist was not the norm, but rather the exception, as far as cockies go, a right a-hole of a person, no matter his occupation and status.
To take this personally is ridiculous. To make it personal by lowering oneself to attacking the storyteller's life, even more so.
In my experience, anonymous commenters aren't worth one minute's consideration. Anyone who comments anonymously is obviously not willing to stand up for their so-called beliefs.
